How much money should I give?

All of the members of the Planning Committee have pledged to donate $100 of their Bat Mitzvah money to the Giving Circle and we hope that you will join us in donating that amount. We have a lofty goal! We are hoping to raise $10,000 together for our community. If 100 girls each give $100, we can reach that goal! BUT, we welcome you to participate at the level at which you are comfortable because it is most important to us that we do this together.

The most important thing is that the money you donate should be yours (not from your parents or grandparents . . . .) The money should come from gifts you receive upon becoming a Bat Mitzvah.  We want to show our community what we can do together!

I bet my grandparents & parents & aunt and uncles would love to donate; should I ask them?

We love that you support our mission so much that you would ask others to give; however, we are looking to show our community what the Bat Mitzvah girls can do together with our own money! So, we are only seeking money from those who are joining the circle - - Jewish girls from the 2021 graduation year in the Baltimore area.

What is a Giving Circle?

A giving circle is a group of people who come together to give money to charity. No matter how much each member gives, giving together means your impact is amplified (increased) many times over.  Through the process of giving, the circle members learn about issues in their community.

Who can participate in the Giving Circle?

Jewish girls in the 2021 graduation year from the Baltimore community can join.

How can I join? How can I help?

We are so excited you want to join us in doing something good for our community.

All you have to do is fill out THE PROMISE and send it to us by email.

Now, please help us spread the word to other local 2021 Bat Mitzvah girls. And, follow us on Instagram where we will post updates on the Giving Circle and other things of interest to strong girls.

I have a friend who wants to join and no one has asked her?

We would love your friend to join. We are trying to spread the word as far and as fast as we can but can use your help. Please have your friend check out our website and have her contact us if she has any questions.

Why do you need me to fill out The Promise by March 1, 2016?

CHANA, who we are donating our money to, needs to know how much money they will have to give out in camp scholarships. We want to give them time to make the best use of our grant.

I am ready to sign up but my mom/dad has questions. Can they contact you?

Absolutely! Have them call us at the number below or send us an email.  There are plenty of responsible adults thrilled to share information about this project!

What Jewish values are we expressing?

Tikkun Olam - repairing or healing the world

Chesed - Loving kindness or caring for those in need with kindness

Tzedakah - the religious obligation to do what is right and just
